Art classes for teens & adults

My teaching journey began in 2016, and I have had the opportunity to teach and learn alongside students of all ages and abilities, from teens to seniors.

For teens and adults, my approach to teaching is engaging, philosophical and very hands on, always drawing or working alongside my students. I can offer full structured courses for those who want to pursue art full time, as well as adhoc, experiential workshops for those who are curious about art.

Upon retiring, Mom wanted to explore painting, but unfortunately, dementia hindered her endeavours. Teaching a person with dementia is an incredibly challenging task, yet Komeil's immense patience and astute understanding of Mom's needs enabled her to rediscover her focus on artistic expression. We are immeasurably grateful to Komeil for his remarkable contribution.

Drawing and draftsmanship is not merely a skill, but a language. It is a language with which we can contemplate and understand the environment and nature that is before our eyes.

Throughout our waking hours, things present themselves before our field of vision. But do we really see them all? Do we learn from them? Do we relate to them personally? Do we observe the delicate difference between two almost identical shapes? Do we really read the multiple shades of what we simply call red in a single flower petal? Do we see the movement of the birds long after they’re gone? We see, we think, we remember, we create – and then we relate. Drawing is an exercise that cultivates the eye and generates seeing. For the art teacher, drawing is the alphabet; the first lesson he must deliver.

I have a teaching space (please contact me for more information as it changes from time to time) but also offer private classes at students’ homes or learning centres. If you have a space and would like to collaborate, I would be happy to hear from you too.

I can customise a course structure according to your needs. All abilities are welcome, even absolute beginners.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A GROUP CLASS?

Group classes are not only more reasonably priced, they are also a great platform for connecting with like-minded people. My classes are relaxed and everyone can work at their own level, but in a spirit of sharing, learning and mutual encouragement.

TEACHING ONLINE

I have been upgrading my gear from time to time, in order to give the best recording and audio experience I can. My setup includes a green screen, a professional mic with audio interface, and a laptop connected to a Wacom tablet for drawing.
